Redline Time Attack Willow Spring was a tough race for our supported teams…….

Carbon Front LSD: ACNFB8210
(extract)….Unfortunately, after only one hot lap, our R34 Skyline GTR lost compression in cylinder #4. Our builder/tuner Aki thinks its a tired piston that cracked after 2 years of hitting the pavement hard with 588awhp. We’re surprised the stock bottom end held up so long. A true testament to Aki’s tuning skills. Even still, in traffic, with a limping motor, on street Yokohama Neova AD07 skinny 265/35/18 tires, Billy Johnson was able to pull off a 1:34 at the Big Track at Willow Springs. Hot stuff from a young, smart and gutsy driver.
Now we’re off to build a bigger, badder and faster Skyline. Watch out for us in the 3rd West Coast RTA in Nevada at the end of September.

Comment from Driver: “LSD is quiet and it feels great, the steering wheel feels more direct and accurate compared to OEM.”

Carbon Triple Clutch: ACM23380
(extract)….After completing a warm up lap,Ryan resumed full speed. That same lap, while running hard thru Turn 9 the car lost all power causing the steering to lock up along with the engine shutting off. Luckily, Ryan was pointed straight and was able to coast off track.
Back at the track early Sunday morning, Ryan was on the phone with AMS President, Martin Musial, desperately trying to figure out the problem. Unfortunately, the cause of the mysterious electrical problem couldn’t be found in time to compete in Sunday’s Time Attack sessions. Trying to salvage something out of the weekend, Ryan was able to get the car moved into the front of the spectator area so the car was still in front of the public eye all day.
Look for plenty of very strong finishes in the near future from Ryan.

(etract)…Moving on…I now run a Carbonetic Triple Carbon clutch, which is rated at 800 lb/ft Torque and 850 HP at crank. Eric Jones @ AMS did the install and everything worked out great. Along with the clutch, he also installed one of AMS’ Clutch Master Cylinder Reinforcement rings. The clutch was converted to a Push-style. I was a little hesitant going to with a Triple-plate clutch because of driveability and reliability of the Clutch Master Cylinder. Being that the Carbonetic is carbon, the clutch is super easy to drive. Taking off from a stop, the clutch feels perfect….it’s not difficult, grabby, noisy etc. It was a pleasant surprise. And with the AMS Clutch Master Cylinder Reinforcement ring installed, I’m not worried about the Master Cylinder anymore. Sweet
