Super Aguri withdraws from F1
Wednesday, May 7th, 2008Super Aguri, the first all-Japanese Formula One team, have pulled out of the 2008 Formula One world championship due to financial difficulties.
The team, founded by Aguri Suzuki in 2005 & debut in 2006, scored four points from 41 Grand Prix races, and finished ninth in the 2007. Their best result was Sato’s 6th (Takuma Sato) place in Canada last year. “There were a lot of fond memories over the years,” said Suzuki. “But the thing I am most proud of is that we always fought hard and did our best despite the fact that we were a very small team.”
At the end of the press conference, he said “I would say you should not participate in F1 if someone asks me an advice.” From the comment, we can guess how hard it is to take part in F1 as a very small team.
I’m so sad to hear that, but I’m proud of their big challenge!!
