Which “CARBONETIC” clutch?

We showed the data of “Rated Horse power” and “Pressure plate rate & pedal effort” on previous articles. When you think about purchasing our clutches, you might think about “price” as well.

Our triple carbon clutches are in any respect better than twin or single. Easier to drive than twin and single and the triple clutches transfer more torque with little extra weight.  However, they are also the most expensive ones.

In sum, use “Rated horse power”, “Pressure plate rate & Pedal effort”, and “Price” as your guide.

Pressure Plate Rate & Pedal Effort!!

Normally we have two pressure plate rates for each model.  It is a rate which presses the clutch plates each other.  The higher the pressure plate rate, the more torque the clutch can transfer.  Consequently, a clutch with a higher pressure plate rate has a higher horse power / torque rating. 

However, the pressure plate rate is inversely related to the pedal effort.  The higher the pressure plate rate is, the larger is the pedal effort.  The pedal effort is a personal one.  Some drives do not mind 1,600kg pressure plate rate, but others might find 1,350kg pressure plate rate rather annoying.  The driving situation also has an impact.  At a traffic jam, you feel the impact of the heavy pedal effort much more than you drive on a race track.  As a rough reference, we have prepared the following table.

When you think about purchasing our carbon clutches, you might ask yourself “Which one should I purchase?  Single, twin, or triple?” 

 First thing we usually ask the customer is

“How much horse power does your car have?”  

 Please find the rated horse powers for our clutches in the table below. If your car produces 500 horse power, our single is not suitable but you can choose between our twin and triple.

Instllation for the Carbon Clutch!!

Did you seen the instllation of carbon LSD on the previous article?

I will show you how a clutch is installed today!!

1) This is the 350Z transmission case.

2) Remove the mission case with a transmission jack. It is very important to use the jack.

3) Now you can see the stock clutch. Then remove the clutch cover, disc and flywheel.

4) 350Z end of the crank.

5) Flywheel assembly. Please make sure to use  the right tightening torque for the flywheel bolts.

6) Install the carbon discs, clutch hub, middle plate, pressure plate and clutch cover assy.

7) Align the discs and the hub to the center of the crank shaft with a centering tool.

8) Input shaft assembly.

9) Assemble the transmission case. Please use the transmission jack.

10) Almost done! Sometimes it is hard to assemble the input shaft into the clutch plates, but don’t shake the mission case hard. Shaking the case causes to damage the carbon discs.

These steps are summaries. Depending on the car, there are some differences for process. Please refer to the service manual for your car and to the “CARBONETIC” instruction as well.
